NEW EMAIL ADDRESS

FACEBOOK
We are excited to announce that we are starting an SJA Youth Ministry Facebook!!
It is in the works as we speak.
So.......Shuana and I will be "unfriending all of our youth participants (per diocesan policy)
This will include, parents, chaperone's, volunteers, and youth
& THEN....you can join the SJA Youth Facebook page to keep connected if you choose to do so.

YOUTH GROUP
Youth Group begins on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5th @ 6:30pm (meet in the parish center)
PLEASE......DO NOT WAIT TO GET YOUR PAPERWORK IN!!!!!!
I have attached the registration forms for you to fill out BEFORE Youth Group starts
October 5th will be CRAZY, and we don't want to use our time doing paperwork!!
note: If you DO NOT have paperwork filled out and signed by a parent/guardian, you CAN NOT stay for Youth Group
The $35.00 registration fee is also do on October 5th.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation registration has begun!
Opened to 8th-12th grade
Orientation
Sunday, October 9th (11:30am)

Sunday, October 16th (11:30am)
You must attend one of the dates listed (with a parent)

Classes begin: Sunday, November 20th 12:30pm-2:30pm

~HAPPY ADVENT~

Advent is a beautiful season in the Church. The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." It also marks the beginning of a new Liturgical Year.
The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent. Advent is far more than simply marking a 2,000 year old event in history or getting the best deal on your gifts for Christmas. It is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ in which all of creation might be reconciled to God.

UPCOMING EVENTS...........

SJA LOCK-IN
December 28th/29th
8pm-7am
"The Last Crusade"
Our life night will be based on the Indiana Jones movie "The Last Crusade"
Have you ever thought of how Catholic this movie is?????
We'll watch the movie and have a great CATHOLIC discussion about something as significant as the Holy Grail.
For this Eucharistic Church, this film offers an intriguing look at the importance of the Last Supper,
Christ's blood and everlasting life.
It'll be AWESOME!

games

We'll provide snacks, BUT EAT DINNER!!!!

We need help! If you are able to help with the lock-in, we would sure appreciate it.

You can take a shift OR stay the whole night! I promise it's fun!

PRAYERS FOR OUR FRIEND!!!!!
Lauren Wegner (Kasten Wegner's sister)- has been hospitalized since last Monday with complications from colitis. Her colon is not responding to meds to control her condition.
She's restricted to a nutritional IV and clear liquid diet, until improvement is shown. Surgeons will visit tomorrow to discuss the possibility of a complicated surgery.
It is also unknown if she has ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's.
Please pray for ...
*Wisdom for her Drs. to make a correct diagnosis.
*Continued strength; relief from pain.
*Quick and complete healing.
*Financial stability/peace and comfort for her and her family.
Also pray for God's special blessing to all the wonderful, caring Drs. and nurses here at Portland Providence.

which concludes our Liturgical Year in the Church.

WE NEED HELP! It's a lot of work....definitely not a 1 person job.
Excellent way to earn service hours &
PIZZA will be provided!

Hello my friends!
WE MADE IT!
How awesome was Steubenville??
I hope you have been talking up a storm with friends and family about this life-changing weekend!

Speaking of talking.........On Sunday, August 22nd, we would LOVE for
some of you to talk about your experience at Steubenville.
How your life has changed....how you view your relationship with God.....
has this experience drawn you closer to your faith.......
those types of things.
Use the words that you feel in your heart.
I NEED VOLUNTEERS............would you be willing to give a testimony?

ALSO, on SUNDAY, AUGUST 22nd, we will have a little reunion get together.
5:30pm in the Parish Center

Steubenville!!

Hi Guys!

Oh my goodness!! Can you believe it's almost here??
We are sooo excited to spend 5 days with you guys, watching you all grow closer to God and stronger in your faith!! It's SUCH A BLESSING for us!!

We just wanted to send you all a couple of reminders:

We would like to leave as early as we can so we can get there and get rested for our fun day at Silverwood... so, if you can, please try to be up at the church, with a full belly, at 4:45 pm. That way we can try to be out of here before 5:30 pm. Thanks guys!

BRING A TOWEL!! I swear, I am NOT obsessing about this! But, DON'T FORGET YOUR TOWEL!! :-)

Bring car snacks, if you want, enough to share with 6-8 people. no candy.

No cell phones! Leave yours at home, please! We feel that it is really important to not have phones & texting as a distraction while we are experiencing Steubenville. Krisi & I will have our phones at all times, in case of emergencies & they will be alvailable to call mom and dad in the evenings, if you want. IPOD's are allowed, but only at bedtime and MUST remain in the dorms. Trust me, you'll be too busy anyway!

And last, but certainly NOT least... We wanted to point out to you all how amazingly blessed you are to be parishioners here at St. John the Apostle. We raised $1100 at the car wash/bake sale!!!!! That put us OVER our goal and made it possible for us to put some $$ aside for scholarships for next years trip to SVNW AND give $500 to our sister parish in San Esteban!!

Guys, this parish LOVES you and wants to support you in your faith journey. Please remember them all and give them thanks for them and their generosity in your prayers!!
